What is Nanomaterials?
What is Nanomaterials?
Nanomaterials are materials with size of 1 to 100 nanometer in at least one dimension. These materials have unique properties and they already are already making today’s products:
- Lighter
- Stronger
- Faster
- Smaller
- More durable
Type of Nanomaterials(Based on dimension):
- Zero Dimension(0D) :
- Those materials whose all three dimension lies in nanoscale are known as zero dimension material.(Example are quantum dots)
- One Dimension(1D):
- Those materials with two dimension lying in nanoscale are known as one dimension material. Just like wire or cables these materials can have have length far more greater then their breadth and their height.(examples are nanorods and nanowires.
- Two-Dimension(2D):
- Those materials which has only one dimension in nanoscale range are knowns as two dimensional material. There material are like flat plate where the length are breadth are far more greater than the thickness of the material.(examples are nanosheets, graphene)
